Mark Carney Donation Lead in New Brunswick, Chrystia Freeland Backed by Irvings
Kyle Sweezey

While political hopefuls typically scrape together donations like squirrels hoarding acorns for winter, Mark Carney's New Brunswick haul reads like a who's who of Maritime money-makers, with 172 enthusiastic donors forking over a tidy sum of $29,592 – averaging $172 per contribution.
Leading the charge in this Maritime money parade are three high-rolling donors who've maxed out their contributions at $1,750 each: Jonathan Barry of Rothesay (presumably not checking his couch cushions for spare change), criminal defence lawyer David Lutz of Hampton (who's apparently defending Carney's fiscal policies), and McCain Foods' sales director Brian McCain (yes, those McCains).
You'd think the national stage would dwarf these provincial numbers, but Carney's managed to transform his New Brunswick support into a broader phenomenon, amassing a whopping $1.9 million from 11,260 contributors across the country. It's as if he's running a political GoFundMe that's actually working.
The establishment's definitely drinking the Carney Kool-Aid, with 83 MPs jumping on his bandwagon faster than teenagers at a TikTok trend. He's even attracted His closest competitor Karina Gould trails significantly with just $236,075 in total donations.
